Shawl Ministry

 What We Do...

The In Stitches Ministry creates prayer shawls to give to anyone going through a time of illness, sorrow, transition, challenge and joyous occasions in life such as a birth of a child or a marriage. As the shawl is created, crafters offer prayers inviting God's presence to be experienced by the recipient.

You can find out much more about prayer shawls here online.

 Who We Are...

This unique ministry of comfort began in July 2004 with a few women who had a love of knitting and crocheting. Since our small beginnings, we have given away many handmade prayer shawls to people going through a difficult time in their life. The shawl serves as a tangible reminder to each hurting person that they are covered in God's all-encompassing love each time they wear the shawl.

Where and When We Do It...

We've moved into the community with our little band of knitters & crocheters! We meet at 10:00 a.m. on the 3rd Saturday of every month at Barnes & Noble Booksellers located at Crossroads Towne Center, 3807 S. Gilbert Rd. in Gilbert.

Come to the coffee shop and join us for a relaxing 90 minutes of knitting, crocheting, great conversation, coffee & goodies! (And even take a sneak at some of the great books while you are there!)

This ministry has been extremely rewarding both for those making the shawls and for the recipients. Here are some comments from people who have received a prayer shawl ….

"I wore it for the first time yesterday. As I walked down the hall to dinner, I heard many favorable and envious comments from the people in the dining room. It made me feel closer to many as they told me about experiences they had when they used to knit in the past. May God bless each and everyone of you as you knit and for your prayers.”

"I would like to thank you for the beautiful prayer shawl. I will make good use of it when I go to the dinning room to eat. As it is always so cool for me. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.”
